Campsites: Tuscany and Veneto most requested in July 2017, followed by Lombardy and Campania

07/08/2017

Tourists continue to prefer Tuscany for en plein air holidays in Italy: in July 2017, Tuscan structures are still the most requested by Italian and foreign travelers, with a decisive lengthening on Veneto compared to the previous month. Very good also Lombardy, drawn by the Lake Garda area, and Campania, on on the lower step of the podium to the detriment of Liguria who slides on the fifth place.

To outline summer 2017 trends for outdoor vacations is Campingitalia.it, the KoobCamp network portal dedicated to online booking of Italian campsites and villages. Based on request for quotation from July 1st to July 31st, Tuscany is the most desired region in July 2017:

  1. Tuscany 25,91% (+4,01% compared to June 2017)
  2. Veneto 11,76% (-2,81%)
  3. Lombardy 6,68% (+2,92%)
  4. Campania 6,68% (+0,82%)
  5. Liguria 6,62% (-3,55)
  6. Lazio 6,34% (-0,84%)
  7. Sicily 5,54% (-2,75%)
  8. Sardinia 5,48% (+0,51%)
  9. Puglia 4,62% (+0,97%)
  10. Trentino Alto Adige 3,77% (-0,21%)

Looking at the tourists nationalities, this year the trend of the last-minute, for years a prerogative of the Italians, seems to have contaminated foreigners, especially Dutch and French. Favored by the hot season and the uncertainty that reigns in some international contexts, italian campsites and villages become the last minute choice even for the unsure tourists from the rest of Europe. These are the origins of the July requests:

  1. Italians 34.94% (-5,06% compared to June 2017)
  2. Dutch 33,73% (+13,39%)
  3. French 14,46% (+0,9%)
  4. Belgian 7,23% (+1,39%)
  5. German 4,82% (-8,74%)
