Ippotur Medieval Resort

Opening season from 01/01/2012 to 31/12/2012 CASTELNUOVO MAGRA (SP) - [ Liguria ] Ippotur: A medieval village built in pine forests on the panoramic hillside of the Colline del Sole, 4 Km from the sea at Castelnuovo Magra (SP), it is situated on the borders of Liguria and Tuscany, between the Cinque Terre and Versilia.
Resort Tourist village or Agriturismo
The complex was created 25 years ago from existing ancient fortress. The thinking behind the project remains the same today as it was at the beginning: contact with nature and the environment; learning about local culture, life, food and wine; preserving its regional identity, traditions and folklore. These are the values that sum up the vision of tourism according to Ippotur; These are also the reasons for a country-based holiday. Nevertheless Ippotur is not agriturismo because there is no direct agricultural activity on the site. Ippotur is a tourist concern, offering a warm welcome and gastronomy of the highest level, often at prices lower than the increasingly popular agritourism, and still competitive in price/quality ratio.

Liguria and Tuscany
The geographical position of the ippotur is exactly on the border of Liguria and Tuscany, 4 Km from the coast, on the road between Prtovenere, the Cinque Terre and Versilia.
Ippotur is a specially village situated in centuries old pine forests at Castelnuovo Magra (SP) and only 4Km from the sea. It is 5Km from the motorway exit of Carrara or 7Km from Sarzana for those travelling from North.
The resort appears to visitors as an oldrenaissance court. It covers an area of 140,000 square metres on the "Colline del Sole", the name originating from its privileged position on the hillside of the Apuane Alpi affording it spectacular views of the Valley of Magra and beyond to Viareggio.
Over the centuries, prolonged exposure to the sun has encouraged ancient settlement and the creation of terraces for olives and wine.
Today, the pine forests are protected site of archeological interest and preserve the traces of these ancient settlement together with a rich variety of plants and animals.

The Restaurant and the Club House are modelled on a small ancient stone castle: the Restaurant Don Wivar is a copy of the Rocca Sir Orso, a renaissance fortress. The original of the Club House was that of a Customs House at the entrance to a village but has also, over the centuries, had many other uses. The dates of both buildings go back to the oldest land registry maps. The resort enjoys a unique geographical position: a pivotal place between Tuscany and Liguria, in which within a readius of 30Km it is possible to visit tourist destination of historical interest and beautiful countryside.

Bar
Located in an ancient fortress restored, centuries ago it was the entrance to the customs of the village. Today, the Bar also works as a club house and a hub for events and social life of the center.
